Here is the most recent (April 2011) news from the Abbotts:
Easter this year brought a newfound excitement for a group of tribal believers and an anything but dull schedule for our tribal support team out in town. With daily flights for the past three weeks – representing hours of paperwork, maintenance, constant supply runs and a stream of guest flowing through our house – the ultimate culmination of all this business saw the newly translated New Testaments placed in the hands of Lauje tribal people.
In the midst of all the business, it is easy to lose perspective and become totally stressed and overwhelmed. Yet as our veteran missionary headed interior, carrying with him boxes of these precious Scriptures, it was hard not to have a lump in one’s throat. What a privilege it was to be here, at this time, serving the missionaries who labored for years learning the language, translating this Bible and planting a local, thriving church. As elderly people clasped their own copy of God’s Word in their hands for the first time and over 600 tribal people merged on one village to claim their copy of the New Testament, the fruit of labor throughout the years was bountiful and beautiful. May God’s Word continue to bring fruit to the Lauje people as they devour their newly given Bread of Life.
