Curt Angel Named Music Director

Posted by Rick on June 2, 2022

Curt & Tammy Angel

A unanimous vote at the May 2022 business meeting named Curt Angel our new music director. Curt, and his wife, Tammy, joined us in April and have immediately put their shoulder to the plow. Curt has led music all over Eastern Oklahoma and even has his own Gospel quartet, Sound Decision. Curt’s enthusiasm for the Lord is evident as he leads congregational worship Sunday mornings.

Welcome Curt and Tammy!

Rummage Sale July 11

Posted by Rick on July 7, 2020

Immanuel Southern Baptist Church youth with be having a rummage sale this Saturday, July 11, from 7 am to ?.

We are inviting the public to make donations for our youth to sell. You can bring them by the church building Friday afternoon after 2, or call the church office at 918-485-5115 to make arrangements to bring your donations by. (Of course they will take cash donations, too! :D)

While we will accept most things, please don’t use this as an opportunity to get rid of old mattresses and broken TVs. Please make sure the items come from a bug free environment, as they will be in our church building until Saturday. Please do not leave donations unattended at the door.

Our youth camps were cancelled this year due to the pandemic. Our youth pastor, John Couch and his wife, Bonnie, have arranged to take our kids on a retreat to a private cabin in the Kiamichis. Your donations, or your purchases at the rummage sale, will help defray the costs of this trip.

The church building is located at 611 N Gertrude in Wagoner.

Thanks in advance!

Online Giving Option Now Available!

Posted by Rick on April 17, 2020

We are pleased to announce the option for online giving to Immanuel Southern! It is extremely versatile and not too complicated!

Go to www.bfok.org/give-immanuelsouthern and fill out the details. There is an option to use an online check and there is no cost associated with it at all. If you use a credit card, there is a 2.9% fee that goes to your credit card company. There is even an option to add the fee onto your gift.

There is the option to designate your gift in honor of or in memory of. At this time, please use one of these options to designate your offering. For example:

Out of a $100 online gift:

$75 tithe
$10 Annie Armstrong
$15 Pakistan

I think you can give the total amount then in the “in honor of” mark it “Annie Armstrong $10” and in the “in memory of” mark it “Pakistan $15” This is an internal memo that will allow our treasurer to know where the offering is supposed to go.

You can set this up as a one time gift or as a recurring gift. Personally, I plan to set it up as a recurring monthly gift using the online check feature.

This is all brand new to us so we may need to work out a few bugs. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Thanks in advance!

Bro Rick

Services Cancelled through March 29, 2020

Posted by Rick on March 18, 2020

Dear ISBC Family and Friends,

The leadership team, consisting of deacons, yokefellows, and myself, met last night and unanimously recommends to voluntarily abide by the government recommendations in the abatement of the coronavirus pandemic. In doing so, we will cancel all church services and meetings beginning today, March 18 and go through March 29. We will meet again on March 31 to re-evaluate the situation.

This was not done out of fear, but was done with the best in mind for our elderly members, immuno-compromised members, and the good of our community.

This is a stressful time for all. Please check on each other and pray for each other, and for me. Seek opportunities to serve your neighbor and to share the Gospel. The world is wrought in panic right now; we stand on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ!

Sunday School teachers, I recommend that you contact each of your class members and see if they are willing to meet in small groups in someone’s home. Do not pressure or force anyone to meet who may feel at risk.

I will be at the church building throughout the week. You can get in touch with me on the church phone (918) 485-5115 or on my cell phone. I will attempt to livestream my sermon on Sunday via FaceBook Live. I will make the announcement later as to what time.

If you are willing to help out our elderly members, who may be reluctant to face the panicky crowds at Walmart, would you indicate your willingness by texting me, calling me, or private messaging me.

I guarantee the devil means all of this for evil, BUT, “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose!” (Romans 8:28)

If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Blessings to you and your family during this crazy time,

Blessing Box Ministry

Posted by Rick on October 24, 2019

Today, October 24, 2019, Immanuel Southern Baptist Church has opened a new ministry available to our community. A Blessing Box!

Our Blessing Box is intended to help a needy family with IMMEDIATE assistance with food. It is not intended to be used on a daily basis and we ask that anyone using the Blessing Box not “clean it out” but leave some for someone else.

Anyone from the community may use the box and anyone may contribute to it. There will be no perishable items available.

The Blessing Box is located on the NE porch of the church near the corner of North Gertrude and NE 6th St. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the pastor by email at this link. It will be resupplied 2-3 times each week.
