  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us for this last Sunday in February as we contrast “The Deeds of the Flesh” based on Galatians 5:16-21 in the morning service and “The Fruit of the Spirit” based on Galatians 5:22-25 in the evening service.

I am also going to present a plan for inviting folks to church on Easter Sunday.  It is a simple, non-threatening way to invite your entire neighborhood to church.  Come and see how you can be a part of this easy-to-do outreach to help us fulfill the Great Commission!

  • Mission Quote of the Week

“It is unfortunate that we have adopted such a phrase as ‘foreign missionaries.’  We are all missionaries, and we are all pilgrims and strangers, foreigners in this world.” – T.J. Bach

  • Website Updates

I have reorganized the photo album to accommodate future growth without becoming too messy.  Take a look and tell me what you think.  I have also eliminated one of the side bar features and have added the same content in a new page called “Site Map” available at top bar just under the title place.

If you have any suggestions or comments about this website, please let me know.

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon by guest speaker, Rev. Jose Fernandez, “What Boat are you In?” based on Mark 5:35-41:

    • Jesus selected a boat that was able/available to carry Him to the other side of the sea.
    • A large storm came along.  The disciples were afraid.  Jesus calmed the sea.
    • Jesus can calm the storms that rage in your life, if you are in His boat.
    • Some try to make it across the sea of life as the captain of their own boat.
    • When we let Jesus take control of our life, He can see us through.

    Rev. Jose & Juliet Fernandez

We were blessed to have Jose & Juliet Fernandez in both services on Sunday.  Jose serves at the President of the Mindanao Baptist Annual Pastors Conference in the Philippines and he and his family minister in different churches each week.  Juliet gave a wonderful mini-concert in the evening service, singing in English and her native Philippine dialect.  Bro Jose spoke about what God is doing in the Philippines and challenged us to be open to what God has for us to do.  We closed the service with corporate prayer for the Fernandez’s.  Jose & Juliet are in the US for about 2 months.

  • Account of Mistreatment of Christians in China

YUNAN PROVINCE, China, Feb. 14 /Christian Newswire/ — China Aid has learned that two Christian women, Meng Xiu Lan- 55, and Zhou Cheng Xiu- 53, were detained by police in Jun Tun County on February 2, 2008. Policemen from Jun Tun police department detained the women after they were found distributing Christmas cards. The two women were first threatened and mocked by police before being stripped completely nude and frisked violently.

Police then handcuffed the two women and escorted them back to their homes. After searching the house, police illegally confiscated CD’s, handouts, Bibles, song books and calenders, without proper documentation.

The suffering and humiliation that these two Christian women were forced to endure is both shocking and horrendous. The PRC has failed to be consistent in its rhetoric of religious freedom and rule of law.

Such behavior should not be tolerated by any society, especially one chosen to host the World Olympic Games. We encourage the CPC to make amends to these innocent victims by restoring the property and dignity that was wrongfully taken from them.

To voice your concern over this incident please contact:

Note: Pray for believers in China, that they would be faithful and strong enough to endure the persecution.  Bro Rick

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “God’s Valentine”, based on John 3:16:

    • God loves us.
    • Our sin separated us from God.
    • God demonstrates His love for us, that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us.
    • Jesus took our punishment upon Him.
    • If we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and believe that He died for our sins and if we call upon Jesus to save us, He will hear us and will forgive our sins.
    • He wants us to tell others His message of love.
