  • Sunday’s Coming!

This Sunday, we’ll take a look at I John 3:19-24 and examine how we can have “A Clear Conscience”.  Sunday evening, since we have wrapped up our study of the Ten Commandments, we’ll see what the Hewbrews did while God was speaking to Moses and see how Aaron resonded to unreasonable demands.  Our sermon title: “What’s Next?”

I look foward to seeing you on Sunday!  Don’t forget to invite someone to church!

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon: Love in Action, I John 3:16-18:

    • Jesus laid down his life (literally) for us
      • He left the presence of God
      • He abandoned the form of God
      • He suffered and bled and died for us
    • We should lay down our lives for others
    • Jesus left his comfort zone for us; why can’t we spend 20 minutes doing something nice for someone else?
    • If we don’t actually die for someone, we can sacrifice our time or our effort.
    • Practical ways we can do that include:
      • listening
      • speaking truth, speaking encouragement
      • serving others
      • going beyond what is expected of us
    • Don’t just TELL someone you love them; SHOW them!

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Don’t miss this next Sunday, as we’ll be looking at I John 3:16-18.  The sermon title is “Love in Action”.  We’ll look at specific ways we can demonstrate love to each other.  Sunday evening, we’ll examine Exodus 20:17, the 10th Commandment: Don’t Covet.  We’ll take an introspective look at our own lives and see where we fail in this command.

I’ll be out of the office the rest of this week, as it is fall break and Sally and I are taking our girls to Silver Dollar City for Fall Break.  Bro. Willie will handle tonight’s prayer meeting.  If there are any emergencies, please get in touch with Bro. Willie.

Have a great week and be sure to invite someone to church next Sunday!

  • Mission Quote of the Week

When James Calvert went out as a missionary to the cannibals of the Fiji Islands, the ship captain tried to turn him back, saying, “You will lose your life and the lives of those with you if you go among such savages.” To that, Calvert replied, “We died before we came here.”

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon: “The Genuine Article”

    • If you truly are born again, there should be evidence in your life to show it.
    • Evidence of a changed life; evidence of a love-filled heart, and evidence of the witness of the Holy Spirit.
    • If you were acused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence against you to convict you?
    • If you don’t show this kind of evidence, you are either not actually born again, or you are walking in the flesh.
    • We must use Jesus as the standard to measure  up to rather than each other.

If you are concerned that you don’t exhibit the evidence of salvation in your own life, then take care of it right now.  Repent of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life.  For more information, click here.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Last Sunday morning, we talked about Counterfeit Christians; how some people parade around posing as Christians, but aren’t really born again.  This Sunday, we’ll take a look at I John 3:13-15 and see what genuine Christians are made of.  Our sermon title: “The Genuine Article”.  Sunday evening, we’ll continue our series on the Ten Commandments with “Number 9: Don’t Lie”.  We’ll take a look at lying, gossiping and generally bad-mouthing people!

Don’t forget that we have our monthly fellowship breakfast tomorrow morning at 8:30.  All are welcome to attend.  There is no charge for the meal.

    Invite someone to Sunday School!

  • Online Sermons

You may have noticed a new tab at the top of the page marked “online sermons”.  This is a new feature that we have been able to provide on our website.

Currently, we have all of September’s Sunday Morning sermons available.  We’ll be getting August’s sermons online as well in the coming weeks.  Not all of the evening services have been recorded, so the first month or so will only have morning sermons available.

You may not have a satisfactory experience if you currently use dial-up to access the internet.
