  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon “Counterfeit Christians”:

    • There are some folks who parade as adopted children of God are not the genuine article.
    • As the US Secret Service only looks at genuine US currency to determine counterfeits, so should we know Jesus intimately to recognize those who do not belong to Him.
    • We can easily be duped by counterfeit Christians because of our desire to not judge others.
    • Practicing sin means to perform often, customarily, or habitually.
    • Those who practice sin (continue in it without repentance) are of the devil.
    • The genuine Christian practices righteousness.
    • Righteousness is “acting in accord with divine or moral law; being free from guilt or sin.
    • In Jesus, there is no sin.
    • The genuine Christian loves fellow Christians.
    • God desires us to have right relationships with our brothers more than He desires our offerings.

If you are simply “playing” like a Christian and have never made a real commitment to Jesus Christ, then you are lost.  Going to church won’t make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald’s will make you a hamburger.  Calling yourself a Christian doesn’t cut it either.  The litmus test for being a Christian is:   Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

If you have never made a real commitment to Jesus, why not do it now?

  • Sunday’s Coming!

This Sunday, we’ll take a look at I John 3:3-12, and see what Counterfeit Christians are all about.  Sunday evening, we’ll continue with our series on the 10 Commandments with Commandment 8: Don’t Steal.

Sunday’s worship experience depends on you!  If you commune with God throughout the week, you are more likely to experience God at church on Sunday.  But if you are tuned in to your own thoughts, desires, and the things of the world all week long, you might actually miss what God has for you on Sunday.  Don’t just be a Christian on Sunday; be one all week long as well.  Pray! Study the Bible! Do good!

Invite someone to Sunday School this week!  They’ll be glad you did.

  • God’s Pie

The only spoken words are, “Dude, He brought the pie”.  I’ll let the rest of the video speak for itself.

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon, “How Great Our Father’s Love”:

    • When Jesus taught us to pray, He said, “Our Father”, not any other name for God.
    • Behold! – means “stop a minute and think about this until it sinks in:.
    • Three ways to get into a family:
    1. being born into a family
    2. being adopted into a family
    3. marrying into a family
    • When you are adopted, you can NEVER be disowned by your adopting parent.
    • When you aer adopted, the State erases your birth parent’s name from your birth certificate and types in your adopting parent’s name.
    • God loves us so much that He adopts us into His family.
    • God is the perfect “Father”, unlike anything we know on this earth.
    • God wants to adopt us and write our name in His book.

If you have Jesus in your heart, then you have the Father’s love.  If you do not have Jesus in your heart, you WILL face the wrath of the Father.  The ONLY way to avoid the wrath of the Father is to have Jesus in your heart.  If you need Jesus in your heart and don’t know how to do it, please email the pastor or call the church office at 918-485-9202.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

“How Great our Father’s Love” is the title of Sunday’s message.  The text will be I John 2:28- 3:2.  Sunday evening, there will be no message, but instead, we will have our Fifth Sunday Sing!  If you have a song, a musical piece, a poem, a scripture, a testimony, etc, to present, then make sure you sign up in the foyer.  Let’s all make this a special time of praise and worship.  Be sure to invite someone to come with you!  The following Sunday night, we’ll continue with our series on the 10 Commandments.

This next Sunday is the last Sunday to collect for the Edna McMillan Offering for State Missions in Oklahoma.  Our church goal is $500 and we have collected $300 thus far.  Consider what else you can contribute to help us meet our goal.

Continuing in the theme from Wednesday night’s message, “Get up and get out!”  Take the Gospel to the streets!  Share what Jesus has done for you!  Invite someone to Sunday School!  Invite them to our fellowships!  Invite them to receive salvation!
