Bits & Bytes

Posted by Rick on October 26, 2010

After a great delay, here are some sound bites from the morning sermon from October 3, 2010, “God’s Way” based on Matthew 26:36-46:

  • Following God isn’t easy, but it isn’t impossible, either.
  • God demands obedience.
  • Often what we want comes before obedience.

    Dear Pastor Rick,

    When I wake up today, I felt God’s conviction in my devotional time to search online sermon…. and God brought me to Immanuel Baptist Church site. This actually my second time, but only today had the courage to write. I listened to your sermon dated October 26, 2010 about the question of whether as a christian “I’m a fan or a follower.” “God’s Way” based on Matthew 26:36-46:

    * Following God isn’t easy, but it isn’t impossible, either.
    * God demands obedience.

    It reminded me how I should focus and be serious about my faith, to not just become a mere church goer or a fan… but a dedicated follower. My life changed when one day I lost my voice. It happened in just a wink of time. I was the church song leader and music in-charge of the church music ministry.

    When singing is the very core of your life… and you can’t sing for God without your voice… you just don’t know the frustration one will experience. I had my Epidermoid Carcinoma as diagnosed by my physician. It must have been the result of the radiation therapy I undergone before.

    I felt so down and listless. I just don’t want to waste my life doing nothing. I wanted to always take part of God’s activities through music again. Please include me in your prayers. For sure, I’m not just an ordinary fan… but a player…. and Jesus’ follower.

    For now, I’m praying for a guitar to shift from a singing talent to an instrument player. Though I love to sing and not so inclined to instruments, I will try my best to learn.

    My geographical location might be so far from where your church is, but prayers are strong weapons for God to hear his children.
