Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon, “God’s Christmas Gift”:

  • We, as gentiles, we not included as God’s chosen people.
  • God’s gift was too big to just give to the Jews.
  • God’s way was to come in humility.
  • He could have proclaimed Christ’s birth worldwide, but instead it was only to a few shepherds.
  • The birth of a modern king is covered by worldwide media, but God chose a time when there was no TV.
  • God loved us all so much that He sent His only Son, to become sin in our place.
  • To take a gift and put it on a shelf to open later is not really receiving a gift.
  • We must not just take, the gift, but we must open it and receive it personally.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s Sermon, “God is Love”:

  • God’s love toward us is personal.
  • God loved us before we loved Him.
  • God will not abandon us, if we have Jesus in our hearts.
  • If we don’t have Jesus in our hearts, we will face God’s full wrath.
  • Jesus satisfied God’s demand for justice by His death on the cross.
  • Love requires action.
  • Love is demonstrated through behavior.
  • Love is more than just a feeling.
  • God is love.

Sunday’s Coming!

Posted by Rick on November 8, 2007

It may only be Thursday, but Sunday’s on the way!  Next Sunday, we’ll be looking at I John 4:7-11, “God is Love”.  Sunday evening will be packed with excitement as we take a look at missions in West Africa.  Sally and I will be presenting a slide-show and have items from Africa which you can examine.  We’ll also be in native dress.  Sally and I worked among the Fulani before becoming Regional Member Care Facilitators in the Ivory Coast.

West Africa

This next Sunday will be Brian, Kelly & family’s last Sunday with us.  Be sure to express your appreciation to them in your own special way.  They have provided cards with their new contact information which are available in the foyer.

Invite someone to Sunday School this week!

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon: Love in Action, I John 3:16-18:

  • Jesus laid down his life (literally) for us
    • He left the presence of God
    • He abandoned the form of God
    • He suffered and bled and died for us
  • We should lay down our lives for others
  • Jesus left his comfort zone for us; why can’t we spend 20 minutes doing something nice for someone else?
  • If we don’t actually die for someone, we can sacrifice our time or our effort.
  • Practical ways we can do that include:
    • listening
    • speaking truth, speaking encouragement
    • serving others
    • going beyond what is expected of us
  • Don’t just TELL someone you love them; SHOW them!

Sunday’s Coming!

Posted by Rick on October 17, 2007

Don’t miss this next Sunday, as we’ll be looking at I John 3:16-18.  The sermon title is “Love in Action”.  We’ll look at specific ways we can demonstrate love to each other.  Sunday evening, we’ll examine Exodus 20:17, the 10th Commandment: Don’t Covet.  We’ll take an introspective look at our own lives and see where we fail in this command.

I’ll be out of the office the rest of this week, as it is fall break and Sally and I are taking our girls to Silver Dollar City for Fall Break.  Bro. Willie will handle tonight’s prayer meeting.  If there are any emergencies, please get in touch with Bro. Willie.

Have a great week and be sure to invite someone to church next Sunday!

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon: “The Genuine Article”

  • If you truly are born again, there should be evidence in your life to show it.
  • Evidence of a changed life; evidence of a love-filled heart, and evidence of the witness of the Holy Spirit.
  • If you were acused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence against you to convict you?
  • If you don’t show this kind of evidence, you are either not actually born again, or you are walking in the flesh.
  • We must use Jesus as the standard to measure  up to rather than each other.

If you are concerned that you don’t exhibit the evidence of salvation in your own life, then take care of it right now.  Repent of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life.  For more information, click here.

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon, “How Great Our Father’s Love”:

  • When Jesus taught us to pray, He said, “Our Father”, not any other name for God.
  • Behold! – means “stop a minute and think about this until it sinks in:.
  • Three ways to get into a family:
  1. being born into a family
  2. being adopted into a family
  3. marrying into a family
  • When you are adopted, you can NEVER be disowned by your adopting parent.
  • When you aer adopted, the State erases your birth parent’s name from your birth certificate and types in your adopting parent’s name.
  • God loves us so much that He adopts us into His family.
  • God is the perfect “Father”, unlike anything we know on this earth.
  • God wants to adopt us and write our name in His book.

If you have Jesus in your heart, then you have the Father’s love.  If you do not have Jesus in your heart, you WILL face the wrath of the Father.  The ONLY way to avoid the wrath of the Father is to have Jesus in your heart.  If you need Jesus in your heart and don’t know how to do it, please email the pastor or call the church office at 918-485-9202.
