  • Sunday’s Coming!

And what a big Sunday it’s going to be!

In the morning service, we’ll light the “Wisemen Candle”, commemorating the time when the wisemen came from the East bearing gifts to our Saviour.  We’ll examine the meaning of each of the gifts.  We’ll also celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.  After that, our sermon will be “God’s Christmas Gift”.  After the morning service, we’ll all enjoy the fellowship of a church Christmas dinner.  If you are reading this and do not attend our church, I want you to know that you are invited to have Christmas dinner with us this Sunday!

Sunday evening, we’ll light the final candle of Advent with “Christ’s Candle”.  We’ll also enjoy a special time of singing in our “Christmas Carole Sing”.

Please come and enjoy a wonderful day of fellowship, good food, and great fun!

  • Mission Quote of the Week

“I have a firm conviction that I am immortal till my work is done.” — Lottie Moon

  • Lottie Moon Update

We have now collected $635.00 towards our church goal of $750.00!

Remember that all money collected goes to directly support International Mission Board missionaries overseas. That’s 100%! None of it stays here in the US. The US goal is $165,000,000.00 this year!

Help fulfill your part in the Great Commission by giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering!

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon, “How Bethlehem Missed Christmas”:

    • Bethlehem knew that the Savior would be born there.
    • Bethlehem saw the star.
    • Bethlehem didn’t put two and two together.
    • Bethlehem was distracted by the census and all it entailed.
    • The shepherds received the word from the Angel of God and went straight-away into town to see it for themselves.
    • The shepherds praised God at seeing the babe as the angel had described.
    • Even after the shepherds left, none of the other folks around went to notify the temple.
    • We, too, are so busy with the wrappings and entrappings of Christmas that we miss the birth of the Savior.
    • America will miss Christmas again this year.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us on this special Sunday as we light the “Angels & Shepherds Candle” for Advent.  Our sermon will be “How Bethlehem Missed Christmas”.  Sunday evening, we’ll have a presentation on missions in East Asia, as Sally and I show our pictures from many different locales in East Asia, including several from where Lottie Moon ministered.

Be sure to invite folks to come and see these remarkable pictures.

  • Mission Quote of the Week

“I believe that in each generation God has called’ enough men and women to evangelize all the yet unreached tribes of the earth…. It is not God who does not call. It is man who will not respond!” – Isobel Kuhn, missionary to China and Thailand

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from this mornings sermon:

    • Don’t be so busy with the “things” of Christmas that you miss Jesus.
    • The temple was the center of religious life in Jerusalem, but the leaders missed the birth of the Messiah only 5 miles away.
    • The temple leaders were to busy serving God to meet God.
    • Simeon and Anna waited on God’s promises; they knew He would fulfill them.
    • Simeon and Anna were busy in the temple doing the things of God, but they didn’t miss Jesus when He was brought in the temple.
    • When someone wishes you a “Happy Holidays”, wish them a “Merry Christmas” back and don’t be ashamed to tell them that we are celebrating the birth of the Savior!

May God bless you this week and allow you to see and take advantage of the ample opportunities for witnessing for Him.

(You can listen to the sermon here.)

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday as we continue the observance of Advent by lighting “Mary’s Candle”.  Our sermon in the morning will be, “The Leaders who Missed Christmas”, talking about the religious leaders at the time of Christ’s birth who were too busy being religious that they missed the birth of the Savior.  Sunday evening we’ll take a look at Christmas’ “Unsung Hero”.  We’ll hear about Joseph and what a special man he was to be chosen to be “step-father of the Lord”.

Invite someone to Sunday School!  See you tomorrow!

  • Mission Quote of the Week

“People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives … and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.” – Nate Saint, missionary martyr
