  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon “When You Blow It Big Time”:

    • Take responsibility for your sin; don’t shift the blame.
    • Come clean with God.  Don’t rationalize your sin.
    • Ask for and receive God’s forgiveness.
    • Request a fresh work of God’s grace.
    • Ask God to renew His joy in your soul.
    • Resolve to use past failure for future ministry opportunities.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us for a very special service Sunday morning, as we baptize Emily Bartell, who made a profession of faith last Sunday morning.  Her grandfather, Ted, will have the privilege of conducting the ceremony.

We’ll finish up our four part series of “God is Closer Than You Think” with “When You Blow It Big-Time”, based on Psalm 51.  Sunday evening, we’ll look at the second installment of “One Chapter Wonders” with the Book of Philemon.  After the evening service, we’ll enjoy a fellowship together so be sure to bring some snacks or finger foods.

Next week, I’ll be out of the office on Monday and Tuesday as I attend the State Evangelism Conference at FBC, Moore.  I should return around noon on Wednesday.

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “When Depression Looms” based on Psalm 77:

    • Send an “S.O.S.” to God.
    • Emotions sabotage reason.
    • Don’t pretend; be honest with God.  Don’t think you will offend God by “opening up”.
    • Choose to redirect your thoughts; focus on past times where God blessed you.
    • Magnify God to diminish your problems.
    • Worship is not the natural tendancy of the depressed person.
    • Worship can move you from self-absorbed depression to a God-enthralled declaration of faith.

  • Mission Quote of the Week

“God, don’t ever let me be satisfied with business as usual. Don’t ever let me lose a sense of urgency for sharing the gospel with every nation, every people group and every person.” –  Dr. Jerry Rankin, President, International Mission Board

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday when we continue the third part in our series, “God is Closer Than You Think: When Depression Looms”, based on Psalm 77.  We’ll examine a Biblical approach to the regular kind of depression that is common in many people.  Sunday evening, we’ll take a look at the book of Second John with the sermon “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing”, where we’ll be exhorted to be aware of deceivers.

Invite someone to Sunday School this week!  Live your life so that others around you might see Jesus in you!

    See you Sunday!

  • Bits and Bytes

Here are some “Sound Bites” from yesterday’s sermon on Psalm 23, “God is Closer Than You Think In Times of Crisis”:

    • Allow God to lead you through times of trouble to take you to “higher ground”.
    • Keep your eyes on the shepherd, not on the circumstances.
    • Trust God to protect you.
    • God is faithful and will not lead you to destruction, but to something better.
    • God’s “rod” is for protection; His “staff” is for correction and rescue.
    • Sometime we get too comfortable in the meadows (good times) that when the valleys (crisis) comes, we aren’t ready to have to trust the Lord.
    • Jesus is the Good Shepherd.
    • You must be born into God’s flock; you can’t “join” it.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday, as continue with the second in the series, God is Closer Than You Think,  with this sermon, “In Times of Crisis”.  We’ll take a look at how God is actually with us in times of crisis, rather than leaving us alone to get through it the best we can.  Our text will be the familiar and much loved Psalm 23.  Sunday evening, we’ll take another look at Matthew 23 with “Modern Day Pharisees”.

My invitation to you is that if you are reading this and you are in the Wagoner area, please come to visit this Sunday!  If you are reading this and are not in our area, be sure to listen to the sermon next week when it is posted on our “Online Sermons” page.

May God bless you in 2008!
