“The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says ‘Amen’ and runs away before God has a chance to reply. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him your ideas.” – Frank Laubach

Bits & Bytes
Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “Now What?” based on Mark 2:21:
- If we apply false patches to our lives, we end up with torn, tattered carnal garments.
- We need real change, not just patches.
- One patch could be reformation without regeneration; promising to “do better” without real change on the inside.
- Another patch could be regret without repentance; regret is a cheap substitute for repentance.
- Yet another patch could be religion without restoration; outer change as opposed to inner change.
- The bottom line is that we want to appease our conscience without having to give up control of our lives.
- We’ll never have real change unless we give our lives to Jesus.

Revival Wrap-up
What a great time! Bro Bob Shoemake provided us encouraging, challenging messages each night and Sunday morning. Bro Martin Whipple led us into worship. We laughed. We cried. We felt God move among us.
To sum up in one sentence what Bro Bob preached about the whole week would be something like “Revival is to bring God’s people back to ‘normal’”. Bro Bob challenged us to not be casual, cultural Christians, but to be sold-out followers of Jesus Christ! He encouraged us to get our of our comfort zone and into the world, for that’s where the lost people are.
As we continually spoke about, revival isn’t just an event on the calendar; it is a fresh working of God in the lives of the church. We are to keep our own revival going. It can last much longer than just the days listed on the calendar. It can change our families, our community, our state, and yes, even our nation!
May God richly bless you as you continue to seek Him!

PS: I just added several photos from the revival to our photo album. You can click here to see them.

Bits & Bytes
Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon, “God’s Prescription for Revival” based on II Chronicles 7:14:
- We go to the doctor when we are sick; when we are spiritually sick, we need to go to the Great Physician.
- If we don’t go to the doctor when we are sick, it can get worse. We could actually die.
- God gives us a prescription to heal our church, or bring revival
- We must first humble ourselves; make sure we know He is God.
- We must pray. Not just mamsy-pamsy prayers, but true intercession for God to work in our lives.
- We must seek God. We can’t just want Him; we must yearn to be with God.
- We must repent. We cannot continue status quo. We must turn from our wicked ways.
- God will hear us.
- God will forgive us.
- God will heal us.
Lord, send a revival, and let it begin with me!

Mission Quote of the Week
“Amongst many who sought to deter me, was one dear old Christian gentleman, whose crowning arguments always was, ‘The Cannibals! you will be eaten by cannibals!’ At last I replied, ‘Mr. Dickson, you are advanced in years now, & your own prospect is soon to be laid in the grave, there to be eaten by worms; I confess to you, that if I can but live & die serving and honoring the Lord Jesus, it will make no difference to me whether I am eaten by cannibals or by worms.’” – John G. Paton

Bits & Bytes
Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday’s sermon, “Return to God, based on Revelation 2:1-7:
- The church of Ephesus was doing a lot of good things.
- Many times, churches think that because they are doing good things, they are holy.
- You can do a lot of good things without the Holy Spirit; look at the world.
- Jesus accused the church of “leaving their first love”, that is, leaving Jesus.
- He told them to remember from where they fell.
- He told them to repent of leaving Him.
- He told them to return to Him.

Revival Time Approaching!
It is almost time for the Spring Revival! We have our speaker. We have our worship leader. We have plans for dinner on the grounds on Saturday, April 19. Now, we just need a movement of the Holy Spirit to bring true revival to Immanuel Southern!
It is true, that we had been planning to have a fish fry to kick off our revival. However, with the enormous amounts of rain we have had, coupled together with some other extenuating circumstances, we have opted to barbecue chicken for our kick off dinner.
(Click to enlarge)Please pray for our revival. Pray for your family, friends, and neighbors who are out of fellowship with God or who are not yet saved. Pray that we would experience a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our church for God’s glory!
