Bits & Bytes
Posted by Rick on September 9, 2010
Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Rut, Rot or Revival” based on 2 Kings 4:1-7:
- We must recognize when we are in a rut and call out to God for help.
- If we stay in our rut we are liable to rot.
- Take stock of what God has already given you.
- Make room for God’s blessing.
- A rut is just a grave with both ends knocked out.

Bits & Bytes
Posted by Rick on April 29, 2008
Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “Now What?” based on Mark 2:21:
- If we apply false patches to our lives, we end up with torn, tattered carnal garments.
- We need real change, not just patches.
- One patch could be reformation without regeneration; promising to “do better” without real change on the inside.
- Another patch could be regret without repentance; regret is a cheap substitute for repentance.
- Yet another patch could be religion without restoration; outer change as opposed to inner change.
- The bottom line is that we want to appease our conscience without having to give up control of our lives.
- We’ll never have real change unless we give our lives to Jesus.

Revival Wrap-up
Posted by Rick on April 25, 2008
What a great time! Bro Bob Shoemake provided us encouraging, challenging messages each night and Sunday morning. Bro Martin Whipple led us into worship. We laughed. We cried. We felt God move among us.
To sum up in one sentence what Bro Bob preached about the whole week would be something like “Revival is to bring God’s people back to ‘normal'”. Bro Bob challenged us to not be casual, cultural Christians, but to be sold-out followers of Jesus Christ! He encouraged us to get our of our comfort zone and into the world, for that’s where the lost people are.
As we continually spoke about, revival isn’t just an event on the calendar; it is a fresh working of God in the lives of the church. We are to keep our own revival going. It can last much longer than just the days listed on the calendar. It can change our families, our community, our state, and yes, even our nation!
May God richly bless you as you continue to seek Him!
PS: I just added several photos from the revival to our photo album. You can click here to see them.
