Online Giving Option Now Available!

Posted by Rick on April 17, 2020

We are pleased to announce the option for online giving to Immanuel Southern! It is extremely versatile and not too complicated!

Go to www.bfok.org/give-immanuelsouthern and fill out the details. There is an option to use an online check and there is no cost associated with it at all. If you use a credit card, there is a 2.9% fee that goes to your credit card company. There is even an option to add the fee onto your gift.

There is the option to designate your gift in honor of or in memory of. At this time, please use one of these options to designate your offering. For example:

Out of a $100 online gift:

$75 tithe
$10 Annie Armstrong
$15 Pakistan

I think you can give the total amount then in the “in honor of” mark it “Annie Armstrong $10” and in the “in memory of” mark it “Pakistan $15” This is an internal memo that will allow our treasurer to know where the offering is supposed to go.

You can set this up as a one time gift or as a recurring gift. Personally, I plan to set it up as a recurring monthly gift using the online check feature.

This is all brand new to us so we may need to work out a few bugs. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Thanks in advance!

2010 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Goal Announced

Posted by Rick on November 4, 2010

The International Mission Board has announced that the 2010 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Goal is $175 million!  Our church goal is $1000.00.

The 2010 theme is “Are We There Yet?

The following is taken directly from the IMB website:

Are we there yet?

When it comes to reaching a lost world for Christ, some may wonder how far we’ve come and how much farther to go.

Today, we can identify the people groups that remain untouched by the Gospel. For the first time, it is conceivable that all people groups can be reached in the coming years with a Gospel presence. According to IMB’s 2009 statistical data* there were 506,019 baptisms, 204,192 churches. Church membership overseas was at 10.7 million, and there were 24,650 new churches.

Yes, there is still a long way to go, but progress is being made every day.

Now is the time to also take a fresh look at the challenges ahead and be ready to finish the task. With 45,560 churches in the Southern Baptist Convention, there is much work to be done.

Here’s a global snapshot of the work ahead of us:

* 4,743 people groups are not engaged at all with the Gospel

* 6,426 unreached people groups (those with less than 2 percent of people who profess to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ)

* 1.7 billion with little or no access to the Gospel

* 1.5 billion Muslims – 22 percent of the world’s population

* 950 million Hindus in the world

* Christian witness among China cities less than 1 percent

* 3 percent evangelical believers among Ethiopia’s 82 million people

* 355 million in South America do not know Christ

* Less than 1 percent Christian among more than 270 million living in the Central Asia region

* 650,000 Lezghi in the Causcasus Mountains fear evil spirits

* 97 percent of all Palestinians are Muslim

* 89 percent of North African and Middle Eastern people groups are unreached

* 311 people groups in India have no known evangelical believers

* Only 1,600 believers among 1.6 million Muong of Northern Vietnam

A little overwhelming isn’t it?

he task is doable, but it will take all of us – our churches, our missionaries, our national partners, our Great Commission partners.

Are we there yet? Not quite. But we’re on our way.

Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts

Posted by Rick on January 14, 2010

Dear ISBC Family,

As you know a devastating earthquake hit the island nation of Haiti.  Efforts are currently underway by the Baptist Disaster Relief to supply assistance and needed supplies to the local populace.  I have been asked by Dr. Anthony Jordan, the Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma to provide church members information in order to make a donation to this effort.  You can mail your checks directly to them at:

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief – Haiti Earthquake Relief

Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma

3800 N. May Avenue

Oklahoma City, OK 73112

You can also donate online at https://www.bgco.org/donate/

For your convenience, I have compiled a list of trustworthy charities that will honorably use your donation for God’s glory.  You can access that list by clicking this link:  http://www.rickboyne.com/2010/01/haiti-earthquake-relief-options.html

Be on your guard for scam artists who may contact you via email saying they are a victim of the earthquake or that they have family there, or they are with a charity.  Only give money to those whom you know and trust.

Blessings on you as you share God’s merciful bounty,

Rick Boyne

Pastor

Bits & Bytes

Posted by Rick on January 5, 2010

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “A Matter of Trust” based on Mark 12:41-44:

  • Tithing is an Old Testament concept
  • Tithing is not commanded in the New Testament
  • Tithing is a concept under the law
  • The New Testament model of giving is based on grace
  • The concept of tithing is abused and mis-guided in the church today
  • 10% is a good place to start, but Jesus demands everything
  • If you can’t trust God with your finances, how can you trust Him with to save your soul?
  • If God isn’t Lord over your money, He probably isn’t Lord over your heart either.
