Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “A Vision for the Future” based on Jeremiah 29:11-14:
- God has a plan for us.
- We ignore God’s plan and try to implement our own instead.
- Our plan fails.
- God rescues us.
- We submit to God’s plan.
- We find success in God’s plan.
- We should go with God’s plan in the first place.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Lukewarm Christianity” based on Revelation 3:14-20:
- In many ways, the Laodicea was like America; self-sufficient and not lacking much.
- The Church at Laodicea was criticized by Jesus for it’s lack of effectiveness, not it’s lack of fervor.
- Jesus said that the church’s ineffectiveness made Him so sick He could vomit.
- Too often, we, as Americans, put our faith in our wealth.
- We often don’t seek God because He has blessed us so much, that we don’t think we even need God.
- We must repent of this attitude and re-affirm our committment to God and His Great Commission.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “Now What?” based on Mark 2:21:
- If we apply false patches to our lives, we end up with torn, tattered carnal garments.
- We need real change, not just patches.
- One patch could be reformation without regeneration; promising to “do better” without real change on the inside.
- Another patch could be regret without repentance; regret is a cheap substitute for repentance.
- Yet another patch could be religion without restoration; outer change as opposed to inner change.
- The bottom line is that we want to appease our conscience without having to give up control of our lives.
- We’ll never have real change unless we give our lives to Jesus.
