Here are some “sound bites” from last Sunday’s morning message, “Stop GOING to church (and start BEING the church) based on James 1:22-25:
The church is the building.
The church is the members.
We are the body of Christ.
When we meet, it isn’t “church” – it is the assembling of the church.
We must have this mindset if we are to live as God would like us to live.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “A Matter of Faith” based on Matthew 8:5-13:
The church has dropped the ball in the faith department.
The church looks too much like the world to make an impact for God.
If we want to change the world, we must live by faith.
If we don’t have faith that God is in control, then we don’t have enough faith for salvation.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “The Wretchedness of Sin” based on II Samuel 12:1-13:
Many people go to church to only get “a blessing”.
People do not recognize the severity and wretchedness of their own sin.
People ignore sin.
People don’t want to talk about sin or its consequences.
God will repay people for their sin; that repayment is death.
The only way out of this predicament is to go to Jesus for deliverance.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon, “Do you Remember the Landmark?” based on Proverb 22:28:
Historical markers are used to remember what happened on certain places.
Spiritual markers can be used for the same reasons.
A couple can remember where they were when they got engaged.
A person should remember where they were when they got saved.
You may not remember the date, but you should remember the place.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Set Your Mind on God’s Interests” based on Matthew 16:21-28:
Too often we don’t don’t keep our mind on the things of God or keep an eternal perspective.
We want things the way we want them and expect God to change to suit us.
Satan wanted Jesus to bypass the cross; so did Peter.
We think we can bypass the cross and get to Heaven by being good or by being a member of a church or other made up thing.
We must set our minds on God’s interests.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Desperately Distant from God” based on Exodus 20:18-21:
Many people keep their distance from God.
Some keep their distance because they are afraid of God.
Some keep their distance because they prefer their sinful lifestyle.
God calls us to Him.
God is approachable.
God has made the way (through Jesus Christ) for us to be reconciled to Him.

I know there are many people in Wagoner who read the posts on our church website but do not attend Immanuel Southern. This post is for you!
This Sunday is our annual Church Thanksgiving Dinner. You and your family are invited to share this dinner with us!
Our Thanksgiving service starts at 10:50 (or there about) and we should dismiss for dinner at about noon.
Our dinner is a potluck with the church providing the turkey. You do not NEED to bring anything to attend. If you want to bring a dish or a dessert, you are more than welcome to do so. We want YOU more than your food!
Call 485-5115 if you have any questions or need a ride.
See you Sunday!

Do churches really look/feel like this to non-members?
I hope Immanuel Southern doesn’t. Let’s not “play” church. Let’s BE the church!
