  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “You Are Not Alone” based on Daniel 6:19-27:

    • Our perception of circumstances do not often match reality.
    • When we are alone, we tend to do things based on fear that we wouldn’t ordinarily do.
    • We have a decision to make: trust God or trust ourselves.
    • When we trust God, it leads to life.
    • When we trust ourselves, it leads to destruction.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Let’s Make a Deal” based on Hebrews 11:1-3:

    • We are offered many choices in life.
    • The world offers us instant gratification and pleasure.
    • The world offers us fame and fortune.
    • The offers that the world makes lead to death and destruction.
    • God offers eternal life through Jesus Christ.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon, “Do you Remember the Landmark?” based on Proverb 22:28:

    • Historical markers are used to remember what happened on certain places.
    • Spiritual markers can be used for the same reasons.
    • A couple can remember where they were when they got engaged.
    • A person should remember where they were when they got saved.
    • You may not remember the date, but you should remember the place.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Set Your Mind on God’s Interests” based on Matthew 16:21-28:

    • Too often we don’t don’t keep our mind on the things of God or keep an eternal perspective.
    • We want things the way we want them and expect God to change to suit us.
    • Satan wanted Jesus to bypass the cross; so did Peter.
    • We think we can bypass the cross and get to Heaven by being good or by being a member of a church or other made up thing.
    • We must set our minds on God’s interests.

  • Retirements and Resignations

We have recently had two important people retire/resign from their place of service in our church.  Last week, Wanda Nickel announced she was retiring from being our church pianist but would be available to fill in when needed.  Wanda has been our church pianist for 10 years and has been involved with our music ministry since 1984.  Leslie Roberts has agreed to play the piano for us until we can find a qualified replacement for Wanda.

At last night’s business meeting, Betty Rice announced her desire to resign from position as Church Clerk. Betty has been Church Clerk for 6 years.  Betty wishes to thank Betty Blair for her kind assistance during her tenure.

  • Unanimous Vote Calls Tom Roberts

    Tom & Leslie Roberts

    Tom & Leslie Roberts

The church voted unanimously to call Bro Tom Roberts as our Minister of Music!  Bro Tom began leading music a couple of weeks ago, but now is official in his position!  We have been praying for God to bring us the right person and we are excited to see how God will bless us through the Roberts!

Bro Tom will have an office here at ISBC, but he is employed full time at Westway in Catoosa.  Leslie began playing the piano for us since the retirement of Wanda Nickel.  Leslie works full time at the Wagoner County Abstract Co.

    Welcome!!

  • Church to Vote on Roberts at Business Meeting

    Tom Roberts

    Tom Roberts

Our regularly scheduled quarterly business meeting will be this Wednesday at 7 pm.  However, there won’t be much “regular” about it as the church will be voting on whether to call Tom Roberts as our Minister of Music.  The search committee has met and has offered Bro Tom the possition and he has accepted, pending a vote of the church.

We will also be electing a new nominating committee that will get right to work on filling the positions for the other committees for our September Business Meeting.
