Here are some “Sound Bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Righteous for the Unrighteous” based on Matthew 27:15-26:

  • Pilate knew Jesus was innocent.
  • Pilate thought he could persuade the crowd to release Jesus instead of the murderer Barabbas.
  • The priests and elders convinced the people to ask for Barabbas.
  • This surprised Pilate and did as they asked to avoid a riot.
  • Jesus was innocent and suffered punishment.
  • Barabbas was guilty and set free.
  • We are like Barabbas.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday mornings message, “The Full Armor of God” based on Ephesians 6:10-19.  It was a special service for a national guardsman deploying to Afghanistan:

  • Each piece of the armor is essential.
  • You cannot leave any piece of the armor out.
  • It is a complete personal defensive and offensive system.
  • It is given to be used, not just looked at.
  • You must be spiritually fit in order to use it properly.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Cafeteria Christianity” based on II Timothy 3:14-17:

  • You can’t pick and choose what you are going to believe or obey based on what pleases you.
  • All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable.
  • Jesus said, “If you love me, obey My commandments.”
  • Following Jesus isn’t easy.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday mornings message, “Take the Veil Away” based on 2 Corinthians 3:4-18:

  • The old covenant was a ministry of death; the new covenant a ministry of life.
  • The old covenant was a ministry of condemnation; the new a ministry of righteousness.
  • The old covenant was law written on tablets of stone; the new written on tablets of your heart.
  • The old covenant passes away; the new remains forever.
  • The covenant God makes with us cannot be broken; it will endure for God is faithful.
  • To try to live under the old covenant (law) will only lead to death.
  • To live under the new covenant (grace) will lead to eternal life.

Here are some “sound bites” from the pastor’s Anniversary Sermon “Parts Is Parts” based on I Corinthians 12:14-26:

  • We are all part of the Body of Christ
  • Many times we want to be an inconspicuous part.
  • Until further notice assume that you are an arm, a foot, a hand or a mouth.
  • God didn’t call us to warm pews.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “You Are Not Alone” based on Daniel 6:19-27:

  • Our perception of circumstances do not often match reality.
  • When we are alone, we tend to do things based on fear that we wouldn’t ordinarily do.
  • We have a decision to make: trust God or trust ourselves.
  • When we trust God, it leads to life.
  • When we trust ourselves, it leads to destruction.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “The Two Questions” based on Exodus 2:11-15:

  • When faced with temptation, we can ask ourselves two questions to help us work through it.
  • The first question is, “Am I willing for others to see me do this?”
  • The second is, “Am I going to have to cover this up after I finish?”
  • It is easier to resist the first desire than to satisfy all that follow.
  • What we do when no one is looking tells us a lot about our character.
  • We should “resist the devil”.
  • We should “flee immorality”.

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon, “The Unforgivable Sin” based on Matthew 12:22-32,

  • God will forgive every sin, except one.
  • Many people are confused about what that one sin is.
  • People think it might be a secret abortion, murder, abuse, or something else.
  • Jesus explains that the unforgivable sin is rejecting the Holy Spirit’s conviction of your sin and of the forgiveness through Jesus.
  • All other sins can be forgiven.
  • If you deny Jesus, it won’t be forgiven.

You can listen to the sermon here, or by clicking on the audio player below.

Sunday evening’s sermon, “Lay Aside the Old Self” based on Ephesians 4:17-24 is available to listen to here or by clicking on the audio player below.

Here are some “Sound Bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon, “A Convenient Morality” based on Romans 1:18-32:

  • We alter God’s word to make it convenient for us and to excuse our sins.
  • When people suppress God’s truth, there are consequences.
  • When people quit honoring God and start serving themselves, there are consequences.
  • The consequences include God giving them over to the lust of their hearts.
  • The consequences include God giving them over to degrading passions.
  • The consequences include God giving them over to a depraved mind.
  • The solution is to return to God.
  • Don’t get too judgmental regarding the sin of others. God hates your sin, too.
