Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “A Lesson in Humility” based on Luke 14:7-14:
Jesus is THE model for humility
A servant cannot be greater than their master, and Jesus humbled himself completely
Don’t choose a place of honor; you may be asked to vacate it for someone else
Choose a place of humility; you might be asked to ‘move up’
Do you want to be great in God’s kingdom? Be a servant.
Pick the jobs no one else wants to do. Pick the people that one one else wants to be around
Humble yourself and God will lift you up

“My Master calls me to these poor children of His. I have at best but a few more years to live. It is clear that my place is not in the old home any longer…I shall go to the Nez Perces and earn my eternal reward.” – Susan Law McBeth

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “A Vision for the Future” based on Jeremiah 29:11-14:
God has a plan for us.
We ignore God’s plan and try to implement our own instead.
Our plan fails.
God rescues us.
We submit to God’s plan.
We find success in God’s plan.
We should go with God’s plan in the first place.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon: Love in Action, I John 3:16-18:
Jesus laid down his life (literally) for us
He left the presence of God
He abandoned the form of God
He suffered and bled and died for us
We should lay down our lives for others
Jesus left his comfort zone for us; why can’t we spend 20 minutes doing something nice for someone else?
If we don’t actually die for someone, we can sacrifice our time or our effort.
Practical ways we can do that include:
listening
speaking truth, speaking encouragement
serving others
going beyond what is expected of us
Don’t just TELL someone you love them; SHOW them!
