Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Acceptable Sacrifice” based on Luke 23:33-46:

  • Sin separates man from God.
  • Before the crucifixion, this was represented by the Veil of the Temple.
  • Only the High Priest was allowed into the Holy of Holies.
  • At Jesus’ death, the veil was torn in two, from top to bottom.
  • Jesus’ death was the acceptable sacrifice to God.
  • No more would the blood of goats and bulls be needed to atone for sin.
  • Jesus’ blood would forevermore atone for sin.
  • Forgiveness is available to all who would believe this.

Here are some “Sound Bites” from Sunday morning’s message “Savior” based on Luke 2:1-20:

  • The angels could hardly wait for the announcement of Christ’s birth so they could start praising God.
  • Jesus’ birth is the fulfillment of a long awaited promise.
  • Jesus is God’s “peace offering” to mankind.
  • You can “get in” on this, but you have to receive Jesus and believe that He really is God’s peace offering.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Silent Night, Holy Night” based on 2 Corinthians 8:9 for the second Sunday of Advent:

  • It was a huge sacrifice for Jesus to come to Earth.
  • It was a sacrifice for all who would believe.
  • It was a willing sacrifice.
  • We should bow before Jesus as Lord now willingly, before we will be forced to after we die.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “God’s Bail-Out Plan” based on Acts 4:8-12:

  • The economy is in crisis.  We got that way by the irresponsible actions of many.
  • The government has tried/is trying multiple “bailout plans” to rescue the economy.
  • Two of the bailout plans seem to have failed.  The third may not do much either.
  • Our spiritual condition is in crisis.  We got that we because we sin.
  • We have tried multiple ways to get ourselves out of this mess, but nothing seems to work.
  • God decided that HE would take charge of the situation and bail us out.
  • God became Flesh and dwelt among us as Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus died for us on the cross, taking our punishment upon Him.
  • If we accept His act on our behalf, we are “bailed out” of our sin debt.
  • If we do not accept Jesus’ act on the cross, we must face the full wrath of God.

You can listen to the sermon here or by clicking on the audio player below.

You can also listen to Sunday evening’s sermon, “The Church Has Left the Building” based on Matthew 9:10-13 here, or by clicking on the audio player below.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Straddling Fences” based on I Kings 18:17-39:

  • True followers of Jesus Christ can expect to be ridiculed, if not persecuted.
  • God can have no rivals.
  • Get off of the fence of indecision and commit to God.
  • God has proved that He IS God and is worthy of our worship.
  • When we hesitate between worshiping God and something else, we do not bring honor to either.
  • You can’t have it both ways;  either belong to the world or belong to God!

You can listen to the sermon here or by clicking on the audio player below.

You can also listen to Sunday evening’s sermon, “Dealing with Discouragement”, based on I Kings 19:1-21 here or by clicking on the audio player below.

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon, “The Cost of Sacrifice” based on II Samuel 24:

  • Innocent people can suffer the consequences of your sin.
  • Your sin requires payment from God.
  • David couldn’t use the gift of someone to make his burnt offering; he had to pay it himself.
  • We are blessed because Jesus has paid the sacrifice for our sin, if we only accept Him.
  • Any sacrifice we make will not be good enough for God.  Jesus made (and was) the perfect sacrifice.

You can listen to “The Cost of Sacrifice” here or by clicking on the audio player below.

You can also listen to Sunday evening’s sermon, “Same-Same, but Different” based on Ephesians 4:7-16 here or by clicking on the audio player below.

Mission Quote of the Week

Posted by Rick on July 21, 2008

“My Master calls me to these poor children of His.  I have at best but a few more years to live.  It is clear that my place is not in the old home any longer…I shall go to the Nez Perces and earn my eternal reward.”  – Susan Law McBeth
