  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday Morning’s sermon, “I Am the Truth” based on John 14:6 and John 3.

    • Truth isn’t dependent upon a situation or circumstance.
    • Truth is truth.  Just because you decide to call a cow’s tail a “leg” doesn’t make it a leg.  It is still a tail.
    • Jesus said that He was “the Truth”.
    • Jesus explained to Nicodemus what He meant when He said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have ever lasting life.”
    • If we understand this truth, it will transform our lives and our eternities!

There is no Sunday evening sermon, as we had a special guest speaker whose presentation we aren’t able to present on the internet due to security concerns.  He spoke about his service with the US Army in Iraq and gave his testimony as to how God is working there among our military and among the Iraqis.  It was a truly inspirational service.

  • What if Starbucks treated you like churches do?

Do churches really look/feel like this to non-members?

I hope Immanuel Southern doesn’t.  Let’s not “play” church.  Let’s BE the church!

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday at Immanuel when we continue our series on “I Am”.  In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except by Me.”  This Sunday, we’ll examine closer what He meant when He said, “I am the Truth”.

Sunday evening, we’re in for a special treat.  We will have an Army Vetrinarian here to show us pictures and give us an update of what God is doing in Iraq.  He will present a slide show and a moving testimony.  Be sure to invite your friends!  Afterwards, we’ll have a brief reception with cookies.

    See you Sunday!

  • MBA 96th Annual Meeting

The 96th Annual Meeting of the Muskogee Baptist Association is now in the history books.  First, I want to say that it is a pleasure being in an association where we can truly enjoy the company of the believers.  It is great to laugh and not take ourselves seriously, but to know that we take the Task of taking the Gospel to a lost and dying world seriously!

First Baptist Church, Hulbert, OK, graciously hosted the Meeting and everyone was impressed by the hospitality.  We enjoyed the opportunity to inspect their new worship facilities.  They provided a delicious supper of pulled pork with sides and a wonderful selection of desserts!

Rev John Curtis provided the annual Doctrinal Sermon, based on Ephesians 5.  He encouraged the church to BE the church!

I preached the annual Missions Sermon, based on II Kings 7:3-9.  You can listen to it here, or by clicking on the link below.  I encouraged believers to not keep the Good News to themselves.

Rev. Danny Gandarra, pastor of First Baptist, Fort Gibson preached the Annual Sermon, based on Isaiah 61:1-3.  He encouraged everyone to have a “Jesus Ministry”.

To do justice to the content of Bro John’s and Bro Danny’s sermon, please go HERE and HERE to listen to them yourselves.

All business was conducted without controversy.  Except for the election of second vice moderator.  That proved for some comic relief.  I was elected to serve as the Moderator for the next year.

God has truly blessed us with a wonderful Association to be involved with!  Kudos to DOM Bill Sherrill, our Associate DOM Claudio Valencia, and especially to the Associational Secretary, Wanda Haley!

    • Jesus was the Holy Son.  God, Himself, provided Him for us.
    • Jesus was the Glorious Salvation.  God, Himself, designed it for us.
    • There is not other way to the Father except through Jesus.  That is God’s plan.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Can I Lose My Salvation?” based on John 10:7-11, 27-29,

    • God has promised eternal life; He placed no conditions on it.
    • God promised that nothing can snatch us out of His hands.
    • God has placed us in Jesus Christ.
    • Jesus Christ will never leave the Father.
    • “Religious experience” does not equal salvation.
    • The answer to the question is “NO! Not if you are truly saved in the first place!”

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday at Immanuel Southern where we will answer the question, “Can I Lose My Salvation?”  While this question isn’t asked out loud very often at church, it is very important, nonetheless.  We’ll use many verses to answer the question, but we’ll be looking mainly at John 10.  Sunday evening, we’ll discuss the need for the church to be “Salt & Light”, based on Matthew 5:13-16.  Following the evening service, we’ll have a very quick, short called business meeting to elect messengers to the Muskogee Baptist Association’s 96th Annual Meeting on November 3.  Following the quick business meeting, we’ll have our regular Finger Food Fellowship!

    Invite someone to Sunday School!

  • Senior Adult Revival A Success!

What a wonderful revival!  It was such a blessing to have Bro Bill Green leading our music and Bro Ernie Perkins bringing God’s message!

We had a time of fellowship at lunch each day and we are already looking forward to next year’s Sr. Adult Revival which will be hosted by Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Muskogee!
