  • Mini-Concert Scheduled

We have arranged to have the youth singers from White Oak Baptist Church (near Vinita) provide a mini-concert on the evening of Sunday, August 24th!

Led by Todd Jones, the youth group will provide at least 4 numbers with keyboard and guitar accompiment.  The group will be singing at a special even in the afternoon and will bless us that evening with the mini-concert.

Due to the fact that it is on a school night, the group will have to leave shortly after church, but will be able to stay for a quick fellowship afterward.

Be sure to invite your friends!

  • Let There Be Lights (for the new sign)

The electricians have been here all morning, working on getting electricity to the new sign.  They had to hire someone to bore underneath the driveway to get wires over to it.  They said they will be done by 3 pm or so, so we’ll have lights on tonight!

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from yesterday morning’s sermon, “Set Free!” based on Romans 8:1-8:

    • Before we accept Christ, we are “condemned captives”.
    • Our condemnation is eternal separation from God in Hell.
    • We are condemned because we have sinned.
    • However, Jesus became in on our behalf that we might be righteous to God.
    • Jesus took the full brunt of the wrath of God.
    • We then are preserved for eternity with God in Heaven.
    • We are rescued & redeemed.
    • There are those who do not know this good news and are going to face the full wrath of God.
    • We must make every effort to share Jesus with them.

  • Sunday’s Coming!

Join us this Sunday at Immanuel!  Our morning sermon will be “Set Free!”, based on Romans 8:1-8.  Sunday evening, we’ll continue our examination of Ephesians with chapter 5:1-14 and learn how to live “A G-Rated Life in an R-Rated World”.

Due to extenuating circumstances our monthly Saturday breakfast fellowship is canceled for the month of August.  We will resume in September.

Be sure and invite someone to Sunday School!

  • Mission Quote of the Week

And I want to ask you: How much would it cost you to sow in tears? I don’t mean just giving God something from your abundance, but finding a way to say, “I believe in the harvest, and therefore I will give what makes no sense. The world would call me unreasonable to do this — but I must sow regardless, in order that I may someday celebrate with songs of joy.” – Del Tarr

  • New Church Sign in Place

Our new church sign is in place!  We are now waiting for the electrician to come and “light us up” and for the man to come and haul away the debris from the old sign and the dirt from the hole.

  • Pastor Honored on First Anniversary

Immanuel Southern Baptist Church had a special surprise celebration to commemorate Bro Rick’s first anniversary as pastor.  Bro Rick was completely surprised and deeply honored by the event.  The church provided a beautifully decorated cake and four different flavors of Blue Bell ice cream for the occasion.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “We Are Called to Faithfulness”, based on Mark 4:26-32.

    • God depends on us to sow the seed of the Gospel. (evangelism, missions)
    • While we are responsible for sowing the Gospel, it is God who causes growth (salvation)
    • After the growth (salvation) has begun, we are responsible to aide that growth (discipleship)
    • It isn’t the “Great Suggestion”; it is the “Great Commission”.
    • We are called to be fishers of men, not keepers of aquariums.
    • We are called to be faithful to God’s mission, that is, the ministry of reconciliation.

  • New Church Sign Arrives!

After much anticipation, our new JM Stewart church sign has arrived!

On the truck, waiting to be unloaded.

Being unloaded.  Even the truck driver helped!

The concrete isn’t quite “cured” enough, so it will sit for a few more days under our portico.

I think Bro Gerald Smith said it best when he prayed last Wednesday evening, “God, bless this sign and make it an instrument of interest for our community to our church.”
