  • Evening Services Canceled (5/30/10)

We realize this is late notice, but we have canceled our services for tonight.  Tonight was supposed to be the Fifth Sunday Sing, but we only had two people signed up to sing and we won’t have a piano player this evening.  By mutual consent of everyone present this morning, we opted to not have services this evening.

Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day!

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Promise of Pentecost”, based on Acts 2:1-24:

    • Most Christians are stuck somewhere between Calvary and Pentecost.
    • Pentecost is when we celebrate God’s giving of the Holy Spirit to His believers.
    • Every person who has trusted Jesus receives the Holy Spirit.
    • The Holy Spirit is God’s seal and promise that we will be redeemed on the Day of Judgment.
    • We must constantly be filled with the Holy Spirit to experience His power.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Cost of Following Jesus” based on Luke 14:25-33:

    • Jesus said you have to give up everything to follow Him.
    • Jesus said you cannot love anyone more than Him if you want to follow Him.
    • Don’t get distracted from following Him.
    • Jesus is coming like a powerful king to do battle, we must chose to fight Him or surrender to Him.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Reaping What You Sow” based on Galatians 6:7-10:

    • If you plant an orange tree, don’t expect to get apples.
    • If you play around on your spouse, don’t be surprised when you have marital problems or a broken marriage.
    • If you are bitter and mean to people, don’t be surprised when you end up alone and abandoned when you’re old.
    • If you don’t spend time in your relationship with God, don’t be surprised when your prayers aren’t answered.

  • Cookie Ministry to Begin Friday

At our last business meeting, we voted to establish a “Cookie Ministry” to the prisoners at the Wagoner County Jail with Marty Berryhill being the ministry leader.  She informed the church today that approval has been given by the jail for us to do this.

They have requested that 3 or 4 cookies be packaged together and we ARE able to include tracts, brochures, or other appropriate literature!  We have arranged to bring the cookies on the last Friday afternoon of each month.  The first time will be THIS Friday, April 30.

The jail administrator informed us that there are currently 94 prisoners, so if we put three cookies in each pack, that would be 282 cookies, or 23 ½ dozen.  If we put 4 cookies in each pack, it would be 376 cookies or a little over 31 dozen.

Marty suggests that there be a “put together” on Friday morning at 9 am.

Please contact Marty if you are interested in participating in this ministry.  Her email is: martyb@immanuelsouthern.com
