  • Camp Tuition Assistance Needed

In the past several years, ISBC has either outright paid for or at least provided assistance for children from the church to go to children’s camp. As you well know, our budget cannot support that this year.

In the past couple of years, we’ve only had up to three children attending camp. This year, we have seven.

In the past couple of years, we’ve sent our children with FBC, Okay, who has graciously allowed us to use their sponsors, their cooks, and their arrangments. This year, we will continue to make use of their hospitality, due to the fact that we do not have enough volunteers to staff our own cabin.

This year, we have several of the children, who are faithful attenders of ISBC, who want to go to camp but don’t have enough money to pay the tuition. The camp fee is $65 per child, which includes housing, food, transportation, insurance, and a T-shirt.

I am appealing to you to sponsor a kid for camp. Even if you aren’t able to pay the entire tuition, you could team up with another person in the church and make sure all of the children who want to go can.

We need to pay the entire tuition to FBC Okay by the evening of Sunday, July 11. The camp is July 12-16. If you wish to give, please mark your envelopes “Camp” or email the pastor.

May God bless you as you bless others!

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message “The Prodigal’s Father” based on Luke 15:11-32:

    • The father always maintained a love for his son, even when the son made bad decisions.
    • The father never considered his son to NOT be his son, even when the son thought so.
    • The father was waiting and watching for the son to return.
    • The father celebrated his return without further punishment.
    • The father is an image of our Heavenly Father.

  • Christians Arrested in Michigan for Preaching Gospel!

A group of American Christian preachers were arrested at an Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan, this weekend.  The charge? Breaching the peace.

Go to their website for photos, videos, and the rest of the story.

Christian, are YOU prepared to go to jail for preaching the Gospel?  Evidently, it’s coming to America.  You need to be ready.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Grime of Guilt” based on Psalm 32:

    • God does not motivate out of guilt.
    • Guilt that is left-over after forgiveness doesn’t come from God.
    • Satan uses guilt to make you think you aren’t good enough for God’s service or Kingdom.
    • God washes away the grime of guilt to make forgiveness complete.

  • Update from Abbotts

We received the following email from Bryan Abbott today:

    ****

    Greetings All,

We are back in Palu! After leaving Wagoner at 7am Wednesday morning we arrived at our front door in Palu at 10 pm Friday, Palu time. God intervened for us in amazing ways at the start of our trip as we had a nice ticket agent that did not even mention charging us for a couple of bags that we knew were overweight, even thought he was very strict with a couple right in front of us in line.

The remainder of the trip was a little bumpy, but praise the Lord, we have made it home! Mikayla began showing signs of strep throat on our longest flight from Miniapolis to Tokyo, but Melissa came prepared with antibiotics!

We had some trouble in Singapore with our tickets being dated incorrectly for our connecting flight and we missed that flight but were able to get on another flight 3 hours later and arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, with enough time to book a flight and get all our bags checked in. We were not as fortunate with our ticket agent in Jakarta and paid for about 200lbs in overweight bags. (Indonesia airlines only allow one 40lb bag per person, and we had six, 50lb bags! ) We were very tired by the time we got on the plane to Palu and the kids had some panic moments when the kids woke up to find themselves on yet another airplane. However, with the time difference, even though it was 10pm in Palu, the kids were wide awake on Tulsa time of 9am when we arrived at our house in Palu. Melissa and I were ready to collapse, but the kids wanted to go PLAY with their dog!

Thanks for your continued prayers as we continue to adjust and rest in the Lord. Mikayla is doing better health wise, but Andrew is now sick.

More updates will follow soon, but as of now, we still do not have internet at our house so email and skype will be limited for a few days.

    We love you all.

Resting in His Hands and thankful to be HOME,

    Bryan

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Teachers of Trash, not Truth” based on II Peter 2:1-9:

    • False teachers mix an element of truth with lies to make it palatable.
    • The so-called “prosperity gospel” is garbage, not gospel.
    • The “word of faith” movement is trash, not truth.
    • God NEVER promises that He will make you rich and keep you well.
    • God promises that He will walk through the difficult times with you, not keep you from walking through them at all.
