  • New Website Feature

The ISBC website now has the ability to distribute church prayer requests in a responsible manner.  In order to keep confidentiality, ISBC members can now request a password to access the current church prayer requests.  If you are not a member and would like access to this information, please email with an explanation of why you think you should have access.

You can go to the tab above marked “Members”, then select “Prayer Requests”.  It will ask you for a password.  Just type the password in EXACTLY as provided to you.  It IS case sensitive.

Hopefully, in the near future, we’ll have a phone directory available as well.

Email info@immanuelsouthern.com to request the password.

  • Tragedy in Maryville, IL

Please pray for the First Baptist Church family of Maryville, Ill.  Today, during their early service, a gunman entered the building and murdered their pastor, Dr. Fred Winters.

This is taken directly from their church website:

    A Message About Today’s Loss

Today, a little after our 8:15 service began, a man entered First Baptist Church and fired several gunshots at our Senior Pastor, Dr Fred Winters.

Please pray for Dr. Winter’s family, our two brave members who were injured when they stopped the assailant, for the assailant himself and his family, and for our church members as they deal with this tragic loss.

In this day, where uncertainty seems to abound creating an environment in which people are vulnerable in doing things they might not do otherwise, one thing is certain, we, as human beings need a foundation upon which we can live our lives. We at First Baptist Maryville, along with other Christian believers, share this conviction: that foundation is God’s Word. In the pages of the Book we call the Bible, we find the pathway for peace, hope, and a quality of living life despite what circumstances we find ourselves in.

To those who believe in the power of prayer, we covet your prayers right now.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Dare to Be a Daniel” based on Daniel 6:

    • Daniel was in the habit of  praying.
    • Daniel loved God more than he loved his own life.
    • Daniel wasn’t going to let the law of the land stop his devotion to God.
    • Daniel’s contemporaries were jealous of his model lifestyle.
    • Daniel’s obedience resulted in the whole nation knowing/learning about God.

You can listen to the sermon here or you can click on the audio player below.  Please know that due to some technical problems with the free podcast service, it may take several minutes before the podcast actually starts playing.  Thank you for your patience.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday’s sermon, “Numbered, Weighed, and Divided” based on Daniel 5:

    • King Belshazzar did not learn from his father’s mistakes.
    • The king offended God by using sacred objects for show.
    • No one could read God’s hand-writing on the wall.
    • Daniel interpreted for the the King and God’s word came true that very night.
    • Many people still do not understand what God says.
    • We will be weighed by God’s standard, not by our own.
    • The Bible says that when we are weighed, like King Belshazzar, we will come up short.
    • The good news is that Jesus died for us, taking our punishment on Himself.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Fireproof Faith” based on Daniel 3:13-31:

    • Hannaniah, Mishael, and Azariah were faced with obedience to God or compromise to save their hide.
    • Rather than compromise, they trusted God to save them.
    • They had decided that even IF God chose to not save them, they weren’t going to bow to the idol.
    • We won’t typically face those types of decisions because we will have already compromised.
    • We face the decision between obedience and compromise a hundred times a day.
    • We must be faithful to God and trust His way.
