  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Commandment of Christ” based on Matthew 28:18-20:

    • Jesus expects His followers to tell others about His good news.
    • Jesus left us with instructions to follow and expects them to be done when He gets back.
    • As we go about our regular lives, we should be faithful to tell others.
    • We shouldn’t wait until we go somewhere special to start telling others about Jesus.
    • Baptism is an important part of following Jesus.

  • VBS Begins Today!

Vacation Bible School begins today at 6 pm at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church!  Preparations have been underway for quite a while and everything is set for a big start!

The week will conclude with a big “Chuck Wagon Celebration” on Sunday evening, August 1, at 6 pm.  The children will provide a singing program for their family and friends, watch a fun-filled slide show of the week, get a certificate of completion and end with a Hot Dog supper.

One exciting element of the week will be a drawing for a free bicycle on August 1.  Each time a child attends, he will have his name submitted once for the drawing!  He must be present to win the bike on Sunday.

We also offer a week long marriage seminar based on the popular Hollywood movie, Fireproof.  “Fireproofing Your Marriage” will be held for free each night of VBS.  Space is limited to 10 couples.

For more information see www.immanuelsouthern.com/vbs or contact the church office at 485-5115.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Blood of Christ” based on Hebrews 9:11-22:

    • The vileness of sin is so great it required an equally vile cure.
    • Blood has been required to cover sin since Adam and Eve sinned and God had to kill an animal to make clothes for them.
    • The blood of bulls and goats are not good enough to forgive sin.
    • Jesus became the acceptable sacrifice.
    • Jesus’ sacrifice only had to be made once.
    • His sacrifice is available to all who believe.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “The Cross of Christ” based on I Corinthians 1:18-25:

    • The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.
    • The message of the cross is the power of God to those who are being saved.
    • The cross is a symbol of God’s great love for us.
    • The cross is a reminder of the vileness of our sin.
    • People try to make sense out of God’s plan, but it confounds them.
    • Christianity isn’t really a religion; it is a relationship.

ISBC will be providing child care for all ages up through children in the sixth grade for parents who attend this marriage seminar.

Vacation Bible School will be providing VBS classes for children 4 and above.  Nursery services will be available for younger children.  (Parents must participate in the marriage seminar for childcare.)

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Declaration of Dependence” based on Psalm 33:10-22:

    • Despite what people are saying, America has a rich Christian heritage.
    • Our laws and our societal structure are based on the Ten Commandments and other Judeo-Christian principles.
    • America’s leaders have failed the vision set forth by our Founding Fathers.
    • America’s path is currently away from God.
    • We must confess, repent, and turn toward God.
    • We must no longer be independent of God, but completely dependent upon Him.
