Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message “More than Conquerors” based on Romans 8:31-39:

  • God saved us to be more than pew sitters and church attenders
  • Simply attending church doesn’t live up to God’s expectations for us
  • If we don’t have victory in our lives, it is most likely because of unrepentant or unconfessed sin
  • God is on our side

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “The Christian Life: Prayer” based on Matthew 6:5-13.  It is the first of a four part series on the Essentials of the Christian Life:

  • We are privileged to call God “Father”
  • We should worship and adore God in our prayers.
  • We should pray for our needs and for God’s guidance.
  • We should praise the Lord and thank Him for His blessings.
  • We are privileged to approach God’s throne because of what Jesus has done for us.
  • Those who have not believed on Jesus cannot call God “Father”.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “How to Be Saved” based on Romans 10:1-13:

  • We can’t “do” anything; God has done it all through Jesus.
  • We are saved by grace, through faith.  Nothing else.
  • Believe on Jesus.
  • Confess Jesus as Lord.
  • Baptism and repentance come BECAUSE of our faith in Jesus; not as a vehicle of grace.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Declaration of Dependence” based on Psalm 33:10-22:

  • Despite what people are saying, America has a rich Christian heritage.
  • Our laws and our societal structure are based on the Ten Commandments and other Judeo-Christian principles.
  • America’s leaders have failed the vision set forth by our Founding Fathers.
  • America’s path is currently away from God.
  • We must confess, repent, and turn toward God.
  • We must no longer be independent of God, but completely dependent upon Him.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “Surviving the Failure of Sin” based on John 21:15-17:

  • We often buy into Satan’s lie that once we sin, we are of no use to God.
  • There is a way to survive the failure of sin.
  • We must re-affirm our love for Jesus and confess our sin.
  • We must continue to follow Him without hesitation.
  • We must keep our eyes on the goal and off other people.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Christmas Lights” based on Matthew 2:1-2,10-12):

  • The Star of Bethlehem led the Magi to Jesus.
  • It allowed them to worship Jesus.
  • It allowed them to present their gifts, but leave with the wealth of the knowledge of the newborn king.
  • It allowed them to have wisdom from God, inasmuch as they obeyed His command in a dream.
  • Jesus told us that we are the light of the world.
  • Like the Christmas Star, we are to lead others to Jesus, so that they, too, might worship Him.

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s sermon, “Sin? What Sin?” based on Romans 6:1-14:

  • We don’t like to talk about sin because it makes us “feel bad”.
  • Sin IS bad and we SHOULD feel bad about the sin we do.
  • The unrighteous person looks around and says, “I am a good person; I’ve never killed anyone”
  • God says “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”.
  • The penitent (or broken hearted) person says, “My sin is ever before me”.
  • God says “if you confess your sins, God is faithful and just to forgive your sins.”
  • The Forgiver of sins (God) says, “Come now, let us reason together. Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.”
  • God is in the “forgiveness business”.
