  • Sunday’s Coming!

This coming Sunday,  we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper!  Begin to prepare your hearts.  I Corinthians 11:29 warns us to not take the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner.  It urges us to examine ourselves.

We should take this to mean that if we are living in unrepentant sin, then get right with God (repent and don’t do that sin any more) before coming to His table.  If you have something against someone, or someone has something against you, then make it right with that person before coming to His table.

Our message Sunday morning will be “Cleaning House” based on Matthew 21:12-16, where Jesus cleansed the temple in Jerusalem.

Sunday evening, the Abbotts will be with us to give a presentation of their work in Indonesia.  We’ll have a Finger Food Fellowship following.

    See you Sunday!

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “From Cheers to Jeers” based on Matthew 21:1-11:

    • The same people who praised Jesus as the Messiah on Sunday shouted for His crucifixion on Friday.
    • People’s expectation of the Messiah was skewed.
    • People expectation of what God does for them is still skewed today.
    • People get upset when they think there is more to salvation than just going to Heaven; it calls for life changes.

    • Jesus didn’t die on the cross for you to sit comfortably in a church for an hour each week.

    • What is our motivation for our good works?
    • If we try to get the approval of people, we don’t aim high enough.
    • We should let our good works shine as to glorify our Father in Heaven.

  • Bits & Bytes

Here are some “sound bites” from Sunday morning’s message, “What Kind of Love?” based on I John 3:1-3:

    • Our view of what love is is skewed by Hollywood.
    • God is the ultimate authority on love.
    • God IS love.
    • John was overwhelmed with God’s love and told us to pay attention to it.
    • God loved us so much, that despite our wretched condition, adopted us to be His sons and daughters.
    • We must act like we are children of the King.
    • We must love others as God loves us.
